Museum of Printing is designed to provide visitors with knowledge and understanding of how the printed word used to be produced before the advent of the computer.

This museum is the only one of its kind in eastern Australia.

You will see a fully operational Linotype typesetting machine which is an amazing piece of mechanical wizardry. It incorporates multiple levers, cams, belts and wheels all working in synchronised harmony to produce lines of type which are then taken and assembled into pages known as composing.

The page is then printed on a letterpress printing machine. It is a Wharfedale platen press the is over 100 years old.

The purpose of the Penrith Museum of Printing is to collect, conserve, operate and showcase letterpress printing machinery and equipment so as to keep alive the history, knowledge and skills of letterpress printing for present and future generations.
