Helpful ways to get to Balmain
Balmain has many narrow and winding streets so there is 40km speed limit and there is only limited parking.
We suggest using public transport to get there and then walking around.
Ferries are the fastest and most scenic way to get to Balmain, however they are although they can be infrequent so check times before you set out. Ferries go from Circular Quay and Darling Harbour to Balmain East wharf and from Circular Quay to Thames Street and Yurulbin (at the end of Louisa Road, Birchgrove).
Route 441 runs from the Queen Victoria Building in the CBD to Birchgrove.
Route 442 runs from the Queen Victoria Building in the CBD to Balmain East wharf.
Routes 444 and 445 run from Campsie to Balmain East via Dulwich Hill and Leichhardt.
Route 433 runs from George Street in the CBD to Gladstone Park Balmain via Glebe.
